About our venue
The Hotel Hershey was built in 1933 by Milton Hershey, who embarked on the enormous construction task during the peak of the Great Depression in order to provide jobs for the citizens of his beloved town. Based off of hotels that Milton and his wife, Catherine, frequented in the Mediterranean, the Hotel Hershey’s design is unique and luxurious.
In 1991, the Moran family began what would become an annual tradition for years to come—a Christmastime trip to The Hotel Hershey for a family reunion. Frank and Grace Moran (Pop-Pop and Mom-Mom) rented the Catherine Hershey Suite, where the family gathered. The adults played cards while the kids ran them beers and martinis (with a sidecar, of course) for tip money. With cousin Kevin on the guitar, we all sang songs into the early morning (with quite a few visits from security each year).
As a little girl, I ran around the hedges and watched the koi fish in the ponds of the Formal Gardens, the very spot where Conner and I will be exchanging our vows this May. It’s surreal to think back on all the time I spent in Hershey as a child, to wonder what my little self would think if she knew that we were getting married at a place that means so much. I wonder what little Shannon and Conner, who first visited the hotel together in 2018 to celebrate Conner’s graduation, would say if I could go back to that trip and tell them they were getting married. Probably “uh, duh!”
As you can tell, this place means a lot to me for so many reasons. This May, when we all gather under its roof, I’ll be thinking about the past—the family that I treasure, the loved ones no longer with us. I’ll be thinking about the future—the life that Conner and I will continue to build for ourselves with love and joy. But, hopefully, I’ll be thinking most of the present—enjoying each and every moment of our wedding and the joy of sharing this very special place with the people I love most—all of you.
Can’t wait to dance with you all soon!

Flights
For our far-away family and friends, there are quite a few airports within the area that could be a great match for your travel!
Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)
This is our home-base airport right in Baltimore. Flying into this airport will leave you with an hour and a half drive to Hershey, PA. Great for guests who may want to spend some time exploring the greater Baltimore area before or after wedding weekend.
Harrisburg International Airport (MDT)
This airport is only twelve minutes outside of Hershey, making it ideal for guests wanting to fly into and out of PA only for the wedding.
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
This large airport has a great selection of airlines. PHL is about a two hour ride outside of Hershey, so it’s better for guests who are looking to explore Philly and rent a car for wedding weekend.
Things to do in the sweetest place on earth—
801 E Chocolate Ave, Hershey, PA 17033
One of our favorite restaurants in the Hershey area. This charming downtown Hershey restaurant is full of good eats and unforgettable atmosphere. We’ve never had a bad meal here! My family swears they have the best hot chocolate in the world, but I’d have to give that accolade to the Circular Dining Room at The Hotel Hershey. Give both a try and let us know who wins!
63 W Chocolate Ave, Hershey, PA 17033
A fun and informative museum where you can explore the rich history of Hershey, PA and the story of Milton S. Hershey. It was truly refreshing to go through the museum as an adult and realize that Milton Hershey really was an amazing and charitable person. If you stay at either The Hershey Lodge or Hotel Hershey, enjoy free admission!
170 Hotel Road, Hershey, PA 17033
A beautiful blooming expanse. Visit the Hershey Gardens to enjoy 23 acres of botanical beauty, 3,000 roses in bloom, and a butterfly atrium! Enjoy free admission if you stay on Hershey property.
101 Chocolate World Way, Hershey, PA 17033
You don’t need theme park tickets to go to this sweet experience full of yummy eats and attractions. It’s one of our favorite stops in Hershey. Become the proverbial kid in a candy shop and browse thousands of Hershey’s chocolate products, eat a customized Reese’s Cup as big as your head, create your own chocolate bar, or see a show. Our must do? The Great Chocolate Experience ride, which we will not leave Hershey without doing. It never gets old. Conner and I always share a kiss in the light up tunnel <3
100 Hersheypark Drive, Hershey, PA 17033
We’re theme park lovers, and Hersheypark is a classic. There are rollercoasters to get your adrenaline pumping (Shannon’s favorite), a massive water park to help you cool off, shows and attractions, kiddie rides for the milder crew, and enough sweets to give you a cavity. If you plan to make wedding weekend more of a small trip, we highly recommend stopping into Hersheypark for some thrills.
The Chocolate Spa at the Hotel Hershey
100 Hotel Road, Hershey, PA 17033
Massages, facials, and even chocolate baths—there’s no better place to pamper yourself than the sweetest place on earth. Call ahead to schedule an appointment, as the spa books up quickly!
6220 Derry St A, Harrisburg, PA 17111
We know you’ll need a late night slice at least once during wedding weekend. This tiny pizza shop is a tried and true favorite of ours for a reason—it’s truly phenomenal.
200 Hersheypark Dr, Hershey, PA 17033
A local brewery with a beer for everyone, plus a tasty snack bar menu! If you want to try a drink inspired by the bride and groom, grab a sour (Shannon’s favorite) or a wheat (Conner’s choice).

Shannon and Conner met whilst playing 180—a version of beer pong dreamt up by the absolute scholars of Washington College in which there are 90 cups of beer on each side of the table. One fateful night in April 2017, Shannon was invited to play on a team with the senior AOII girls (a big honor for a mere sophomore). Their opponents? Some of the Theta Chi's, who Shannon was so intimidated by that she barely looked up from the sloshing solo cups in the distance for the length of the two hour game. But how could she have known that night—amidst the glow of sorority house lighting and the sound of sticky shoes peeling off the floor—that she’d meet her husband?
After the game concluded (the Thetas victorious by three cups), Shannon found herself at O’Connor’s, Chestertown’s most beloved Irish bar (and one of two bars, total, in the area). It was there that Conner made his big move. He walked up to Shannon and reached his hand out, took hers, and shook it, saying “I don’t know if you remember me, but we just played 180 together. My name’s Conner.” This was ridiculous, because it had only been about twenty minutes since the game ended. He was nervous. So nervous that upon shaking her hand and giving that small introduction, he turned around and walked clear out of the bar he had, moments before, walked into. He had glitched out like a Sim, so he walked all the way home and called the night a wash. But Shannon was intrigued! What kind of frat boy shakes hands? More importantly, what kind of frat boy introduces himself politely to a girl at the bar and then just turns around and walks away? She thought he was a gentleman—and a mysterious one at that.
Months later, the two would reconnect after the Summer break at an afterparty. Shannon followed Conner around the whole night laughing way too loudly at everything he said until he finally caught on that she was interested. The first time he ever visited her sorority house, he spotted all of her books and tried to impress her with some literary knowledge. He mixed up Agatha Christie and Jane Austen (how, dear reader, I’m not sure) and then promptly knocked an entire stack of books off of her shelf. The clumsy ditz thing worked—the two started dating and have been inseparable ever since.
During their remaining years in college, they filled their moments with each other. From late night library dates where they both procrastinated more than they worked, to trips home from O’Connor’s where they would sneak into the graveyard to look at the stars, to Subway dates and darties and Conner spending way too much time in Shannon’s sorority house while she had dance parties or played dress up with Katie and Mackenzie (her two co-maids of honor); college is where they first realized that, with each other, every new day felt like a gift.
After graduation and a gap year, the two made the big decision to move seventeen hours away to Kansas City, Missouri, where they had never visited before and knew no one. Looking back years later, they would be surprised at their own bravery. But in the moment, all they can remember is being excited to embark on a new adventure, calm with the other by their side. During their first year in KC, in the throes of the Pandemic, they worked and went to school on Zoom, made zero friends due to social distancing practices, and only left the house to go on long walks and drives because everything was closed. What might have been a nightmare scenario for most couples was instead a year of joy for Shannon and Conner, who could happily be sewn together at the hip. Soon, they added to their little family with Merlin, the cutest puppy in the whole world. With his high energy, joyful disposition, and love for taking twelve mile walks, he fit right in.
Conner and Shannon lived four years in Kansas City, where they built community, made friends that felt like family, ate delicious barbecue, and realized just how amazing life can be when you wake up every morning next to your best friend. On July 20th, 2023, Conner proposed to Shannon in the blooming rose garden of Kansas City’s Loose Park. Their engagement has been filled with intention, excitement, and joy.
It’s hard to write a love story that spans seven years. Sometimes words can do nothing but fail at describing just how deeply we love someone, just how complete a life can become by the addition of one special person. Love may transcend our language, our art, but even when you can’t explain it, you can feel it. We hope to see you at our wedding—to witness our love, and to share in that most radiant of all feelings.
It turned out so right for strangers in the night.
THE (wedding) PARTY
-
Kaitlin Hegwald
MATRON OF HONOR
Shannon’s eldest sister, Kaitlin is a true example of the first born archetype. Organized (mostly when it comes to assisting others), helpful, and wildly caring, she has been a guiding light in Shannon’s life for years. As Shannon and Conner entered into the season of wedding planning, Kaitlin has been on their speed dial the whole way, helping with etiquette questions, vendor searches, and very long to-do lists. Kaitlin and Shannon love to have hours-long phone calls and visit each other in their respective cities.
-
Kaitlynn Corbin
MAID OF HONOR
Katie and Shannon met freshmen year of college when they both rushed AOII. They quickly discovered that their whimsical personalities were perfectly suited to one another. They lived together for two years in college and spent much of that time laughing so hard their stomachs hurt. Katie is a ride or die, the kind of person you call at 2 AM, and the perfect companion for wild adventures. Katie and Conner bond over their joint love for the Denver Nuggets and Nicola Jokić.
-
Mackenzie Bosack
MAID OF HONOR
Mackenzie and Shannon met in their freshman year French class, but it wasn’t until their senior year of college, when Mackenzie, Shannon, and Katie all roomed together in AOII’s “Green House,” that they got close. Mackenzie is the Type A, polished and poised counterpart to Shannon’s chaos and spontaneity. She is incredibly smart and dedicated, but equally fun and loving (the best combo). Shannon and Mackenzie love to lay in bed, eating popcorn and watching documentaries or dance competition shows.
-
Karlie Dolan
BRIDESMAID
Karlie and Shannon met through AOII and quickly became friends when they realized just how much fun they got up to together. Another Baltimore girl, Karlie is outgoing, the life of the party, and so, so kind. She’s the perfect person to cheer you up, drink a beer with you, or make you laugh until you cry. Shannon often finds herself changing her voice and intonation to match Karlie’s. She is one of the funniest and most magnetic people Shannon has ever met, and if you don’t make time to get to know her during the reception, you’re missing out.
-
Brooke Spalding Ford
BRIDESMAID
Shannon and Brooke met in their first year Poetry workshop at The University of Missouri—Kansas City. While they didn’t get to know each other much in that Zoom classroom, when they started in-person classes the following year, it was fast friendship. The two love to share their writing with each other, “work” (read: yap) at coffee shops all day, and philosophize things like Snooki, Toddlers & Tiaras, and the minutia of girlhood. Brooke is a genius artist who loves a good sandwich and a Hamm’s beer. Ask her about her famous focaccia recipe!!
-
Erin Moran
BRIDESMAID
Shannon and Erin make up the younger duo of the four sisters, often referred to as “the little girls.” They shared a bedroom growing up, where they would often get into trouble for talking all night long and laughing loudly enough to wake up their parents. After being yelled at, they would switch to messaging each other through Nintendo Pictochat and playing a game they made up where they just pelted each other with stuffed animals from across the room until someone laughed loudly enough to get in trouble again or cried. From wearing matching clothes growing up to now speaking their own Internet language that no one else can understand, they’re a tight pair.
-
Megan Frazier
BRIDESMAID
Megan is the second-born of the four girls and another of Shannon’s older sisters. She is known for being dependable and helpful, and is always there when you need her. Megan and Shannon bond over their shared love of crafting (Megan has already used her Cricut prowess to help with multiple wedding DIYs), Disney World, The Office, and reading—but perhaps their biggest bond is over their shared love of Declan.
-
Josh Cotting
BEST MAN
Josh and Conner started off like Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. Everything from baseballs to legos became projectile weapons during arguments and their parents had to serve as judge and jury on a daily basis. Now, Conner is grateful to have the most easy-going best friend built in to his life that a person could ask for. Conner is appreciative of Josh’s perspective on life and dependability for the people he loves.
-
Mark Diese
GROOMSMAN
Mark Diese? Mark Diese. If you know, you know. If you don’t know, this wedding is your chance to fix it. There’s nothing else to say—he’s your favorite person’s favorite person.
-
Matt Harman
GROOMSMAN
Matt and Conner quickly became friends when Matt joined the Rugby team and Theta Chi in his freshman year at Washington College. A frustrating fun fact about Matt is that the first time he scored in high school rugby was against Conner’s team with Conner on the field. Please boo Matt for this. Matt balances hard work in his profession with enjoying life and having fun with friends and family. He is the exact type of person you want to be surrounded by.
-
Chris Salisbury
GROOMSMAN
Chris is simultaneously the life of the party and one of the most ambitious and driven people Conner has ever met. Another brother from Theta Chi, Conner has always appreciated Chris’s friendliness and versatility. You can throw him into any crowd of people and the room will walk out appreciating the person they’ve met.
-
Mike Bloom
GROOMSMAN
Roommates for the first two years of college, Mike is probably the only person Conner could tolerate living with who isn’t Shannon. Both played Rugby and were brothers in Theta Chi, but their friendship came from playing countless hours of NHL between classes and relentlessly pestering the one and only Josh Knox. Mike is another individual that anyone would be grateful to be around in life. He’ll be there for you no matter the circumstance.
-
Declan Frazier
GROOMSMAN
This little guy is like a time stamp for Shannon and Conner’s relationship. Born just a few months after they started dating, they were both present the day that Declan was born, and, since then, their lives have been filled with joy, warmth, and transformative love. The first of the nephews and nieces, Declan changed the lives of everyone in the family with his spunkiness, caring heart, and joyous personality. He is growing into the kindest and most compassionate kid. He loves drawing, writing, reading, doing science, and hanging out with his family. He loves the spotlight and is truly a ham—we can’t wait for you to witness this at the wedding!
-
Stephen Hegwald
RING BEARER
Sweet Stephen has been a huge part of Shannon and Conner’s lives since he was born. From moving into his house in Virginia to be his nanny during COVID, to watching him grow into an imaginative, sensitive, and loving little dude, Shannon and Conner have been able to spend so much time with him, and it’s always the most high-energy, silliest, memorable time to spend. Stephen is intelligent, kind, and hilarious. He once compiled the leftover bones from a plate of wings and earnestly asked “Can we build a chicken out of these?!” He loves the outdoors, his little sister, Kennedy, drawing, and skateboarding. Make sure to catch him dancing at the wedding—he can really move!
-
Kennedy Hegwald
FLOWER GIRL
Shannon and Conner’s first niece, their god-daughter, and the princess of their lives. Kennedy is a year and a half old and made of sweetness. She is smart, bubbly, and perceptive. She loves singing songs by Ms. Rachel, clapping her hands, and eating pop tarts. She is going to make the most beautiful flower girl ever!
-
Richie Torres
OFFICIANT
Richie and Conner met and became friends during their freshman year at Washington College. When Shannon arrived on campus a year later, her and Richie hit it off immediately. Richie has had the rare chance to know Shannon and Conner first as separate people, and then together as a couple. This perspective, paired with his incredible outgoingness, caring heart, and theatrical love of performance, makes him the perfect person to officiate the wedding. Richie is the kind of person that makes new friends everywhere and leaves rooms of people in awe of him. Megan thee Stallion literally picked him from the crowd and brought him up on stage during one of her concerts (pictured). Make sure to meet him at the wedding—you’ll be happy you did!

Our wedding reception is in a gorgeous art deco ballroom built in 1933. Unfortunately, that beautiful room has a strict maximum capacity for guests. We would love for a more-the-merrier type of party, but our venue cannot accomodate more than our designated guest list. If a plus one is provided to you, it will be listed on your invitation.
-
We love you and your cutie pies. As noted above, due to our venue’s strict capacity limits, the only children in attendance at the wedding will be nieces and nephews who will play a special role in our day. We hope this will give all of you wonderful parents a much deserved night off!
For childcare options available in the area, our venue has had great success with care.com where you can hire a babysitter right to your hotel room!
-
Our wedding dress code is cocktail/formal attire. A nice cocktail dress, midi or maxi dress, or floor length gown are all perfectly suitable, as is a pantsuit! For men, suits are perfect—although we won’t stop you from wearing a tuxedo with tails and a top hat if that’s how you want to roll.
If you know the bride, then you know that she would love for everyone to come dressed like it’s the MET Gala. Go all out if it suits your fancy! Wear a hoop skirt and birdcage on your head, use this as an excuse to buy the dress you’ve had sitting in your cart for five months, or wear your trusty “wedding guest dress” that makes you feel comfortable. We want you to feel hot, have fun, and be ready to party!
Please no denim (unless you’re recreating the iconic jean dress worn by Britney Spears to the 2001 American Music Awards).
-
There is ample parking available in the lot at The Hotel Hershey. Valet is also available through the hotel for guests who wish to partake.
-
Our wedding ceremony will be held outdoors—weather permitting—in the Formal Gardens of the Hotel Hershey. Our cocktail hour and reception will be indoors, with outdoor balconies attached.
-
Our ceremony will begin promptly at 4 PM, so please try to arrive at least fifteen minutes early. I love you all, but hope not to run into you while walking down the aisle.

We look forward to seeing you and celebrating together! Please click “RSVP” below and use the link to let us know if you will be attending.
